Cats and fowls have never been great friends, but the way they are now is not the way they've always been. Let me explain.
Rafiki

When Fowls Were Lords is a story from the Rafiki Remembers magazine collection. It was published in the 1990s as part of The Lion King: A Nature Fun and Learn Series.

Synopsis

The fowls are lords of the wild, above even the cats, and take advantage of their position by making the cats do their every wish. Terrified by the flame-like combs of the fowls, the cats meekly abide by their lords' wishes.

One night, the fire runs out, and a mother cat comforts her kits by telling them that the fowl will provide them with more flame. Together, she and her son creep up to a sleeping fowl and hold dry grass to his comb in the hopes that it will catch fire. When nothing happens, the mother cat touches the comb herself, only to find that it is as cold as animal flesh. Realizing that the fowl is a fraud, the mother cat chases him away from his nest, prompting the other cats to do the same. To this day, cats can still be seen chasing fowls, in full awareness of their fake combs.
