Here we are...from Pride Rock to the Pit of Shame. We're so low on the food chain, we're underground!
The meerkats lived in a place that is complete with streets and shops, which were possibly built by the meerkats themselves as they seem to be made of sand or dirt. Every meerkat in the colony had jobs in which they all take seriously. When Fred makes Timon leave his post so he can go on his date with Tatiana, a cobra invades the colony and kidnaps Tatiana, which makes everyone believe she's dead. The meerkats realize see that Timon left his post and they chase him until Timon gets caught by the Duke Meerkat, who banishes him from the colony for leaving his post and letting the snake kidnap his daughter.
After Timon meets Pumbaa for the first time, they see that Tatiana is still alive but guarded by the cobra. So the two rescue her and return to Timon's colony, with the meerkats being proud of Timon for rescuing the princess. As a reward, Timon is offered to marry Tatiana and live a better life, but gives it up for Pumbaa, since the duke refuses to accept the warthog as a colony member.
Timon is known for being a motormouth and is thus ignored while on sentry duty, as he is known to report meaningless doings to his colony mates. When real danger strikes, an eagle, the other meerkats don't believe Timon's warnings and nearly die as a result. The colony blames Timon, who runs away to escape their accusations.
- Timon's colony used to be called "the Komboli Raiders."
