"The Trap" is a musical piece composed by Hans Zimmer for The Lion King. It is the underscore that plays as the hyenas wait for Scar's signal to start a wildebeest stampede.

Overview

Shortly after the release of the original motion picture soundtrack, "The Trap" was released as part of the complete film score. However, the album was retracted after one day. On June 24, 2014, The Legacy Collection: The Lion King was released, with "The Trap" having been remixed and released under the title "Simba, It's to Die For".

Use

Just before the stampede, "The Trap" can be heard. The track picks up right after Scar leaves Simba in the Gorge and concludes with the hyenas leaving to startle the herd.

Trivia

  • The score is immediately followed by and closely related to the score "Stampede".
