The Lion King: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the original motion picture soundtrack for Walt Disney's The Lion King. It contains songs from the film written by Elton John and Tim Rice, and a score composed by Hans Zimmer with African chants by Lebo M. The soundtrack was recorded in three different countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, and was released on May 31, 1994. There is also an unreleased complete score CD called the The Lion King 2005 Expanded Score.

The soundtrack won both the Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Original Score, and was given to Hans Zimmer giving him his first win.
