If you make fun of your friends, lion cubs, they will do the same to you.
When Baboon becomes engaged, he invites his friend Tortoise to the wedding. Upon arriving, Tortoise is told by Baboon that he must climb a tree in order to eat, since that's what all the other baboons are doing. Try as he might to stay in the tree, each time Tortoise reaches for food, he falls from the tree and must be drawn back up again by the baboons, who roar with laughter at each failed attempt.
Broiling with hard feelings, Tortoise proceeded to invite Baboon to his own wedding, but before the celebration, he set fire to the grass around his home, leaving the ground black and sooty. When Baboon came to attend the wedding, he walked through the charred grass and was accused by Tortoise of being dirty. Under Tortoise's orders, Baboon journeyed to the river to wash his hands, but on his way back, he once again dirtied them. Over and over again, he was sent back to the river, all the while being watched by Tortoise's very amused friends.
