Information

In the real world

Servals are medium-sized wild cats that are characterized by a golden-yellow or yellow-brown coat with black spots and stripes, a white underbelly, and a black-tipped tail about 30 cm (12 in) in length. Other features include large ears, a small head and elongated limbs. Servals have the longest limbs of any cat in relation to body size, which they use for agility and to navigate through muddy ground and tall grasses.

They mainly inhabit grasslands and savannas, preferably in close proximity to water. Mainly carnivores, servals will prey on rodents, small birds, frogs, insects and reptiles, occasionally hunting larger animals such as hares and small antelopes. They rarely scavenge.

In "The Search for Utamu", a serval is spotted by Ono, struggling to climb a cliff at the Big Ravine. After a daring jump across the canyon, Fuli manages to rescue the serval.

A serval briefly appears in "The Call of the Drongo", being awoken by Tamaa as he sings "Bird of a Thousand Voices".

Another serval appears in "Babysitter Bunga" as one of five young animals in the care of Bunga.
