Who are you? And what are you planning on doing with those jingly bells?
―The savage lion to Timon and Pumbaa[src]

The savage lion is a male lion.

In order to join Club Ted!, Timon and Pumbaa performed several initiation tasks, all of which involved harassing the savage lion. Eventually, the savage lion realized that the Teds were to blame for Timon and Pumbaa's behavior. In retaliation, he attacked the Teds, which made Timon and Pumbaa decide that they did not want to join Club Ted! after all.

Biography[]

Early life[]

The savage lion lived at Savage Rock.[1]

Conflict with Timon and Pumbaa[]

YGJTC Timon Pumbaa & lion5

The savage lion accepts the jingly bells.

While Timon and Pumbaa were relaxing next to a pond, the Teds showed up and took over their napping spot by building a fence. They then kicked the duo out and made their own club, which they named Club Ted! The blue Ted informed Timon and Pumbaa that they were not welcome in their club unless their names were Ted. This gave Timon an idea.

Timon knocked on the fence's door and told the Teds that he and Pumbaa were both named Ted. The Teds replied that the friends could only join the club if they completed an "initiation task." They then instructed Timon and Pumbaa to put jingly bells around the neck of a savage lion who lived at Savage Rock. Unbeknownst to the duo, the Teds were secretly hoping that the savage lion would eat them.

YGJTC Timon Pumbaa & lion13

The savage lion attacks Timon and Pumbaa.

When Timon and Pumbaa got to Savage Rock, they started to put the jingly bells around the savage lion's neck, but he woke up and grabbed the two. Timon told him that they were Santa's helper elves and that they had showed up to give him the jingly bells as a present. The savage lion fell for the lie and put the jingly bells on, proclaiming that he would never take them off.

Timon and Pumbaa returned to the Teds and informed them that they had completed the task, to the Teds' surprise and dismay. Instead of letting the friends into their club, the Teds asked them for proof that the jingly bells were on the savage lion. To complete this new task, Timon and Pumbaa went to Savage Rock, where Timon set an alarm clock and placed it on the savage lion's desk. The clock rang, and the savage lion woke up to take a shower. After he put the jingly bells on a hanger and got in the shower, Timon and Pumbaa snuck inside to take the jingly bells back. The friends went back to the Teds with the jingly bells, but the Teds simply made up another task for them to perform: put a suit on the savage lion. This annoyed Timon and Pumbaa.

YGJTC Timon Pumbaa lion & Teds

The savage lion realizes that the Teds have been making Timon and Pumbaa bother him.

Timon and Pumbaa returned to Savage Rock, where they dressed up as telegram guys. After the duo gave the savage lion a telegram, he looked at the letter and read that he must wear a suit. Timon and Pumbaa quickly dressed up as suit designers and put a suit on the savage lion. The savage lion liked the suit but grew suspicious because Timon and Pumbaa looked exactly like the visitors from earlier. This prompted him to attack the duo.

Injured and annoyed, Timon and Pumbaa returned to the Teds. The Teds were about to ask them to retrieve the savage lion's suit as proof of their achievement, but Timon and Pumbaa refused to do so and revealed that they had brought the savage lion with them this time. The savage lion realized that it was the Teds who had kept sending Timon and Pumbaa to bother him, which prompted him to attack the ground squirrels. Meanwhile, Timon told Pumbaa that he would never join a club that would not accept him as a member, and Pumbaa agreed.[1]

Physical appearance[]

The savage lion is a large and powerfully built lion. He has caramel-brown fur, with a dark brown mane and green eyes. His chest, muzzle, and paws are a yellow-tinted tan.[1]

Personality and traits[]

The savage lion is aggressive and gruff. When irritated, he is prone to attack, especially when he is repeatedly harassed or annoyed. He is exceptionally strong, tough, and durable, as he was able to subdue Timon and Pumbaa with relative ease. At times, he can be soft, gentle, and playful, such as when he enjoyed the jingly bells that Timon and Pumbaa gave him.[1]
