When Kion and Bunga race through the Pride Lands playing Baobab Ball, they run straight toward Ono and his flock. Ono, noticing the pair just in time, tells everyone to scatter and they do so, barely avoiding Kion.
Later, Ono encounters Fuli by herself and asks if she would like to hunt with him and his flock. Fuli accepts this offer, but quickly loses interest in the egrets' hunting style when she learns they eat bugs that linger around the feet of elephants. Ono's flock hops around Fuli, eating bugs and not stopping when Fuli is splattered with mud, which Ono later reveals to be dung, much to Fuli's annoyance.
After Kion unleashes the Roar of the Elders in a rage, Ono's head feathers are blown off, and he frets about his flock's reaction.
Later that day, the Lion Guard encounters a klipspringer trapped in the middle of a river. After an unsuccessful attempt to rescue the klipspringer, the Guard ends up in a river. Ono alights on a tree branch nearby and is noticed by a member of his flock, causing Ono to realize that he has lost his tail feathers as well.
Following the defeat of Makuu and his float, a few members of Ono's flock land next to Ono and show him that they have removed their head and tail feathers as well. Everyone laughs, seeing that Ono has started a trend.
