Information

Biography

Born and raised in Canada by a Scottish father and Dutch mother,[1] Campbell began her career on stage, and on numerous commercials, she starred on the Canadian television series Catwalk. She then rose to international fame on the Golden Globe-winning 1990s television series Party of Five, playing the role of teenager Julia Salinger. She played the role from 1994 to when the show ended in 2000.

She made her feature film debut in the 1996 film, The Craft. That year, she then gained worldwide success due to starring in the lead role as Sidney Prescott in Wes Craven's Scream and later in its sequels.

She starred in the thriller film, Wild Things, in 1998. Around that same time, Campbell was selected to voice young adult Kiara in the sequel, The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, after the Walt Disney Company tried to get actresses Jennifer Aniston and Sarah Jessica Parker, the wife of Lion King star, Matthew Broderick, to voice the character, originally named as "Aisha".[2] On the Proud of Simba's Pride documentary, Campbell jokingly remarked before coming into to lend her voice, she'd eat raw meat and cover herself in fur.[3] She then starred in several films that were critically acclaimed but received a limited theatrical release including Panic (2000) and The Company (2003).

Recently, Campbell reprized her role as Sidney Prescott in Scream 4.

Trivia

  • Kiara was her first voice acting role.
