When her son Haari goes missing, Mayika is brought a replacement son, Timon, by her mate, Mayik. Upon seeing the meerkat, Mayika embraces him lovingly and gladly takes him in as her new child. Unwilling to let their friend go, Simba and Pumbaa try to claim Timon back, but Mayika sobs that her son has been lost in the jungle and that she cannot live without a child to care for. Simba immediately volunteers to help look for the child, and Mayika agrees to go out with him right away. Despite his mate's eagerness, Mayik forbids her to search until she has rested.
The next morning, when the search goes underway, Timon accidentally calls Haari "Hairy," infuriating Mayika. Nevertheless, the search continues, and after a few hours, Mayika and her mate bring food for the search party. With no bugs included in the pile of food, Timon and Pumbaa are dissatisfied and target a giant snail named Slippy. The snail, however, proves helpful and points the party in the direction of the missing Haari.
The monkeys learn that Haari has been missing ever since a snake promised to take him back to his parents. Setting off in search of Haari, the group soon reaches the cave where Haari is trapped, and Simba falls inside. When Mayika reaches in to pull him out, she is reunited with her son, who is delighted to see her.
Like the other monkeys in her troop, Mayika is long-bodied and slender with skinny limbs and a long tail. Her fur is bright orange, while the top of her head is a fruity red and her chest and the rims of her face are cream-colored. Her eyes as well as her face are dark brown, and her hands are red but slightly paler than the red of her hair.
Personality and traits
Maternal and motherly, Mayika makes the perfect caregiver. Her main concern is for her young, and she can be very protective of even her adopted child, calling for her mate to protect her when the situation is dire. She can also be very touchy about her young, as she yells vehemently at Timon when he simply mispronounces her son's name.
