John Estill Vickery (born November 4, 1950) is an American stage and film actor. He originated the role of Scar in the Broadway production of The Lion King.

Biography
John Vickery was born on November 4, 1950 in Alameda, California, USA, and grew up in Oakland, California. He attended the University of California at Berkeley where he pursued a mathematical degree, but he instead got involved with the university's experimental theater. After graduating from the University of California, he studied acting in London, England. Earlier, he made his debut in a high school's production of The Twelfth Night.[1] Starting in 1981, Vickery appeared in the revival of Macbeth (as Malcolm), Ned & Jack (as Edward "Ned" Sheldon), Eminent Domain (1982), and The Real Thing (1984-1985) where he was an understudy for the role as Henry, a role originated by Jeremy Irons.[2]
Continuing his roles on stage and television, Vickery portrayed Neroon in the Babylon 5 first season episode, "Legacies". Throughout the following three years, he reprised this role in four more episodes and also portrayed Mr. Welles in a 1995 episode. Vickery would also make a guest appearance as the latter in the Babylon 5 spin-off, Crusade. Further television work included Star Trek: The Next Generation where he portrayed Andrus Hagan in the fourth season episode "Night Terrors" in 1991. Vickery obtained a recurring part as Gul Rusot in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in 1999, and portrayed Orak in Star Trek: Enterprise in second season episode "Judgment" in 2003.
Returning to the stage, Victory originated the role as Scar from 1997 to 2000 in the Broadway musical, The Lion King. He was also in the Los Angeles production of The Lion King in 2000. Afterwards, Vickery was replaced by Patrick Page. Most recently, he made guest appearances in NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service, Medium, and Modern Family.
