Clockwork Quint

I am Fronk Fegnugen, keeper of the clock. Please do not ask me to spare a second. My time is devoted to this clock, which is the pride of my city and joy of my life.
―Fronk to Timon[src]

Fronk Fegnugen is a male human.

Fronk spent many years as the timekeeper of his Swiss village. One day, his rival, Clockwork Quint, came to inspect his clock, found it was broken, and gave Fronk until noon to fix it, else he would lose his job. At first, Fronk believed the clock was irreparable, but Pumbaa proposed an idea. Along with his friend Timon, he posed as a mechanical animal on the clock and so fooled Clockwork Quint into believing the clock had been fixed. As a result, Fronk kept his job.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Fronk lived in Switzerland. He was chosen to become the town's timekeeper by the residents of his village, who relied on him to take care of the local clock tower. Over the years, his rival, Clockwork Quint, sought revenge in the hopes that he could get Fronk fired.[1]

Keeping his job[]

SM Timon & Fronk2

Fronk works on the town's clock.

During Timon and Pumbaa's vacation in Switzerland, the two friends ate bugs covered in Swiss chocolate. Timon wanted to eat his very favorite confection last, but the nearby clock tower rang nine o'clock, and people rushed by, almost making Timon drop his chocolate. Timon believed that the people were rushing because they were unable to relax and live according to the "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle. He claimed that he could help anyone adopt the "no worries" lifestyle but refused to do so until one of the villagers directly affected his life in some way.

Immediately, Fronk opened the window, which made Timon splatter his chocolate-covered bug. While Fronk went to check on the clock, Pumbaa told Timon that Fronk had directly affected him. As a result, Timon made an effort to stop Fronk from going about his business. Fronk, however, refused to take the meerkat's advice, telling him that his duty affected lives other than his own.

SM Timon Pumbaa & Fronk7

Timon and Pumbaa teach Fronk about "Hakuna Matata."

Timon insisted that something was missing from Fronk's life and that he needed to relax and kiss a girl. Fronk, however, still repaired the clock. Timon and Pumbaa sent Fronk on a vacation to lead a "Hakuna Matata" life and insisted that the clock would be fine without him for a little while. However, the clock malfunctioned the moment Fronk left, and the clock inspector, Clockwork Quint, drove up to ensure that Fronk's clock was in excellent condition. Upon not finding Fronk, who had taken the job he desired, Clockwork Quint issued an order that the clock must be working by noon, else Fronk would lose his job as a timekeeper. Timon told Pumbaa that they could fix it, but after a number fell from the clock's face, he suggested that they leave town.

The pals waited at the train station, then at a hot air balloon station, but no one returned to sell them a ticket because they were relying on the clock's time. Timon finally realized that he and Pumbaa needed to tell Fronk about the predicament so that the master timekeeper could repair the clock; otherwise, not only would Fronk lose his job, but they would never be able to leave the Swiss town.

SM Fronk & Frieda5

Fronk realizes that he only has five minutes to fix the clock.

Timon and Pumbaa found Fronk skiing in the Alps with his new sweetheart Frieda, who also loved the clock. Fronk and Frieda had great dreams for their future together, but Timon and Pumbaa had to break the news that the clock was in need of repairs and that Fronk was in danger of losing his job to Clockwork Quint. The four quickly skied down the mountain, through a chapel so that Fronk and Frieda could wed, and into the clock tower. Fronk believed the clock was irreparable and blamed Timon for making him take a break, but Pumbaa had an idea.

Clockwork Quint returned and believed that he would be able to take Fronk's job. However, at the stroke of noon, Timon and Pumbaa performed the jobs of the mechanical animals that had previously been on the tower. Clockwork Quint was enraged by what he saw and angrily left, which meant that Fronk could keep his job as a timekeeper, much to his, Timon, Pumbaa, and Frieda's happiness.[1]

Physical appearance[]

Fronk is a short and portly man. He has fair skin, somewhat disheveled brown hair, and black eyes. He wears a white shirt, red overalls, a red bowtie, and blue shoes.[1]

Personality and traits[]

Fronk is kind-hearted and generous. He takes his job as a timekeeper very seriously and cares greatly about the lives of the town residents. After taking Timon's advice to relax, Fronk became more carefree and enjoyed his new "Hakuna Matata" lifestyle. However, when Timon and Pumbaa broke the news about the clock being broken, Fronk became extremely worried about losing his job and expressed anger at Timon for making him take a break from his responsibilities.[1]
