Fisi is a manipulating, and scheming animal, as he forces Kesho, a Cheetah, to do his bidding by surrounding him with more Hyenas and backing him into a corner (though the Cheetah does enjoy the idea of becoming King). The story mentions even some of the other Hyenas don't like Fisi, and fights tend to break out whenever he's around.

Fisi accidentally intrudes in the Pride Lands near Pride Rock one day on a mission for carrion, and overhears Kopa inquiring his father Simba about why a lion is King, and not say, an Elephant or something else. Fisi starts to wonder this as well, and it gives him an idea. He listens to the rest of the conversation and then creeps off in search of Ed. The two, spurred by Kopa's questions and the King's insecurity, think up a scheme, to challenge Simba.

Fisi rethinks his plan, feeling the animals would be much more accepting of another cat than a hyena, and so they find and use Kesho as their puppet since he owed Fisi for saving him from Starvation. They plan to do this in front of a mass of animals, and so when The Great Palaver arrives, a time where all the animals come together to discuss and find solutions to various problems, Fisi fearlessly screams out as the King addresses a Giraffe. Angered, Simba demands fisi identify himself, and the Hyena sneeringly replies that the lion species has no right to be king, as there was no vote or fight for the position. He then goes on to set up a Challenge between Kesho and Simba.

Simba starts to object to the fight, but Fisi quikly intervenes and gets things started. He challenges Kesho, claiming the even will take place in The Valley of the Thousand Eyes.

As Kesho freaks out, Ed and Fisi lounge about, eager for the day Simba is dethroned. They see their hyena 'friend' approaching, knowing he would, and mockingly question him as to why he looks so worried. Kesho begs the hyenas for their help, and even thought the hyenas refuse at first they eventually relent and give him a strategy to win again Simba.

The next day at the solstice, Fisi, Ed and the rest of the hyenas cheer on Kesho as he walks into the ring with Simba.

Part 2Edit

"Shut your trap, Nala! You're a bad loser. Kesho defeated Simba inside the arena, and that's all that counts! Get lost now! You're no longer queen!"

The hyenas watch as their plan is executed, and eventually he defeats Simba. Nala jumps in, saying Kesho cheated, as he jumped from the ring which was against the rules, but Fisi growls to Nala, Simba was defeated inside the ring and that's all that matters. He deposes her as a Queen and the hyenas carry their new King to Pride Rock.

A few months later, the Hyenas begin to belittle and insult Kesho, but when the cheetah refers to his kingship, they tell him if he harms any of them, the hyena pack will turn him into mincemeat. Offended, Kesho curls away, unhappy with being the Hyenas Puppet King as he wasn't allowed to give orders; Only dictate what the hyenas told him. Fisi and Ed had ordered all the vultures to be driven for the land so they could have the carrion for themselves and a foul stench engulfed the land, killing some animals while driving others away. The call for Simba's return and usurpation become louder.

Fisi is thrown to the side when Kia, a large elephant, barges in and heads for Pride Rock, intent on Challenging Kesho. Intimidated by his size. Kesho admits he cheated, Fisi and his pack flee, Kesho is exiled, and Simba returns to the throne with his family.
