Tombo is a male elephant. He is a member of a herd of elephants in the Pride Lands.
When Tombo got exiled from his herd due to his habit of spraying other animals with water, he met Simba and Nala. While with the cubs, he got caught in a thunderstorm, and a bolt of lightning ignited the savanna. Simba urged Tombo to suck some water into his trunk, and the calf did so, then sprayed out the fire. Impressed by Tombo's heroism, his herd welcomed him back into their fold and even named him the "hero of the year."
Biography[]
Early life[]
Tombo was born to an unnamed female elephant. He was a member of a herd of elephants in the Pride Lands. As a youngster, he developed a habit of squirting water at other animals, which annoyed his fellow elephants and eventually led to his exile from their fold.[1]
Friendship with Simba and Nala[]
One day, Simba and Nala were playing when Tombo squirted them with water. He emerged from the bushes, laughing, and introduced himself as "Tombo the Watershooter." He then showed off his talent by shooting water at a nearby bird. Though Simba and Nala were impressed by his talent, they wondered where his herd was, and Tombo confessed that they had driven him out due to his habit of spraying them with water. Taking pity on the young elephant, Simba resolved to put in a good word for him with his herd.
Despite Simba's best efforts, the leader of Tombo's herd refused to accept him back until he learned to behave better. Before Simba and Nala left the herd, Tombo's mother begged them to reunite her with her son. The cubs returned to Tombo and gave him the good news but warned him that he could only return to his herd if he behaved.
Just then, a thunderstorm rolled in overhead, and a bolt of lightning ignited the savanna. Simba implored Tombo to suck some water into his trunk, and Tombo acquiesced. Using the water in his trunk, he sprayed the fire until it had been put out completely. Moved by his heroism, the leader of his herd welcomed him back and even named him the "hero of the year." Tombo's mother thanked Simba and Nala profusely for their help, then noted that Tombo was only spraying himself now.[1]
Physical appearance[]
Tombo is a small elephant calf, with dark bluish-gray skin and black eyes. He and his mother are unusually dark compared to their fellow herd members.[1]

Tombo is playful and mischievous, with a penchant for squirting water. He can be unyielding and opinionated, as he refused to stop spraying water at his fellows, even when it cost him his place in his herd. In times of trouble, Tombo is brave, resourceful, and heroic.[1]
