Timon: It's there, you say? Out in the lake?
Pumbaa: Babble?
Timon: Wherever and whatever it is, old pal, we'll find it. And make it pay!

The Terror of Lake Timbuktu is an American comic inspired by The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa. It was featured in the June 1996 issue of Disney Comic Hits!.

Synopsis[]

A group of animals is traveling a trade route in the Sahara Desert and come across Lake Timbuktu, a watering spot, where Timon and Pumbaa set up a stand.

Things go well until a mysterious monster shows up, causing all the animals to flee. Enraged, Timon suggests that he and Pumbaa should search for the monster that ruined their stand. When the two friends find the monster in the lake, Timon throws a harpoon at it, but it only hits the monster and returns to the duo, showing that the monster is made of metal.

The monster then goes underwater. Pumbaa tries to explain the harpoon to Timon, but the meerkat interrupts and suggests that they continue searching for the monster. Many hours pass and Timon and Pumbaa are still on the boat waiting for the monster to appear. The monster pops out of water from underneath Timon and Pumbaa's boat, breaking it apart. When the two land on the monster, while Timon tries to kill it with a harpoon, Pumbaa realizes that the monster is actually a ship and searches for a clue.

When Pumbaa opens the ship, Marine Biologist Quint, the captain of the ship, pops up and scolds the duo for "annoying him." Pumbaa explains to Timon that the fact that the harpoon the meerkat used was bent from trying to destroy the monster meant that the creature was in fact a ship. When Quint states that he is going to Scotland to search for a lochness monster, Timon and Pumbaa decide to join him on his journey.
