"Stampede" is a musical piece composed by Hans Zimmer for The Lion King. It was unofficially released as part of The Lion King (Complete Score).
Use[]
In the soundtracks[]
"Stampede" was first released as part of the film's soundtrack in a remixed format. This version of the track is titled "...To Die For" and serves as a combination of "Stampede" and its counterpart, "Mufasa's Dead".
"Stampede" in its entirety was unofficially released as part of the complete film score.
On June 24, 2014, The Legacy Collection: The Lion King was released, with "Stampede" having been remixed and released under the same title, "Stampede".
In the film[]
This version of "Stampede" does not include the entire composition heard in the finalized version of the score. Instead, the score picks up at the start of the stampede scene and concludes with the musical flourish heard as Mufasa dies. The music played as Simba mourns the death of his father appears in a different score, "Mufasa's Dead".
In other media[]
In the stage musical, the score is titled "The Stampede". Like the film score version of "Stampede", it does not include the score heard as Simba mourns his father, but rather the music played during the stampede scene.
A remixed version of "Stampede" is heard in the 1994 video game The Lion King. It plays during the stampede level.
