"Saskatchewan Catch"

Our own unspoiled tropical island paradise! Untainted by the outside world!
Timon[src]

"Boara Boara" is the first segment of the first episode of Season 1 of The Lion King's Timon & Pumbaa, and the first episode of the series overall. It premiered on September 8, 1995 on the syndicated Disney Afternoon block, alongside "Saskatchewan Catch".

Official synopsis[]

"Timon and Pumbaa's relaxing day at a deserted beach is overturned when Pumbaa is kidnapped by jungle natives!"[1]

Plot summary[]

Timon and Pumbaa are intending to go skiing, but they end up in a tropical isle instead. They decide to stay at the beach instead, until three natives kidnap Pumbaa. At first, they try to cook Pumbaa, presenting him to their leader. After seeing Pumbaa, the chief smacks his henchmen on their heads with his staff, because he thinks Pumbaa is their god-king.

BB Timon Pumbaa & natives

The natives make Timon be Pumbaa's servant.

Timon goes through difficult situations to rescue Pumbaa, and when he finds him, he is surprised that the natives made Pumbaa their king. Timon gets angry at his friend for having him worried sick, and he throws Pumbaa's crown away, breaking it, and tries to leave, but is stopped by the natives.

BB chief9

The native chief during Pumbaa's attempt to restore their sacred fire.

Timon is put in a basket with flowers, making the meerkat think that he's the new god-king, but he is actually going to be thrown into a volcano as a sacrifice for attempting to "kidnap" Pumbaa. He begs not to be thrown into the volcano and says he'll do anything in return, so the Natives turn him into a servant of Pumbaa.

BB Timon40

To distract the natives, Timon plays "samba" so he and Pumbaa can escape.

After a while, the Natives' sacred fire goes out and their chief asks Pumbaa to restore it. Using his mind, Pumbaa reignites the flame, but right after it, he accidentally makes it rain, putting the fire out completely. This causes the Natives' chief to denounce him as an impostor and he promptly orders his lackeys to go after him and Timon. They both run away by playing "samba" to distract the natives. When the natives keep dancing, their leader hits each of them on the head with his staff.

The three natives then take off their costumes, revealing themselves to be university students. Fed up with being hit on the head repeatedly by their chief, they go back to the college having decided that "Be a Native Weekends" aren't any fun, leaving their chief begging them to come back so they don't lose their deposits, hinting that he is also a college student. After escaping the natives, Timon and Pumbaa go back to the beach but find civilization.
