I am Bahuka, Lord of the Volcano.
―Bahuka to Timon[src]

Bahuka is a male tiki statue.

Bahuka emerged from an island campfire and blamed Timon for awakening him from eons of slumber. As punishment, he forced Timon to pass the "Twelve Tasks of Bahuka." Though Pumbaa disbelieved in the statue, Timon mindlessly did Bahuka's bidding until the statue ordered him to throw Pumbaa into Mount Magma. Timon refused and threw Bahuka in instead. However, Bahuka survived and ordered Timon to perform the tasks again.

Biography[]

Early life[]

You have disturbed my eons of slumber, and now you must perform the Twelve Tasks of Bahuka.
―Bahuka to Timon[src]

Bahuka lived on the deserted island of Oahu. He was in slumber for eons and required the passage of twelve tests upon his awakening.[1]

Timon's subservience[]

Timon: Twelve tasks done! Twelve tasks done!
Bahuka: Not so fast. You didn't throw in the pillow.
Timon: Pillow? But-but Pumbaa was the pillow! Into the volcano? Okay, if you insist.
—Bahuka and Timon[src]

Pumbaa disapproves of Timon bowing to Bahuka.

Following an island campfire gone wrong, Bahuka sprang out of the flames of Timon's dinner and announced himself as Bahuka, Lord of the Volcano. Suddenly, his booming voice turned into a high-pitched nasal whine, and he blamed Timon for awakening him from eons of slumber. He then demanded that Timon pass the "Twelve Tests of Bahuka" as compensation for his rude awakening.

Awestruck, Timon bowed before the statue, an action which confused the unaffected Pumbaa. When Timon tried to explain himself to his friend, the warthog prodded suspiciously at Bahuka, believing that the statue was nothing more than an innocent slab of stone. As the warthog walked away, slightly miffed, Bahuka ordered Timon to convince Pumbaa of his existence, else he would destroy the island and everyone inhabiting it.

Bahuka uses Pumbaa as a pillow.

Heeding Bahuka's request, Timon raced after Pumbaa and forced him to bow before the statue. Annoyed, Pumbaa shook his friend away and reminded Timon that the meerkat had a bad track record of mistaking objects for talking beings. Though Timon tried to defend himself, Bahuka interjected himself into the conversation, rattling off the first task to Timon, who rushed to fulfill it. Per the statue's request, Timon brought him a "giant pillow" to rest on, using Pumbaa to substitute as Bahuka's plush throne.

After smelling Pumbaa, Bahuka ordered Timon to bring him an air freshener, and Timon hastily hung two odor blockers on Pumbaa's tusks. Satisfied, Bahuka requested a giant feast, which prompted Timon to use Pumbaa as the main course. Not intent on buying into Bahuka's demands, Pumbaa shoved his way off the dinner plate and rebuked Timon for listening to the statue. Despite his friend's clear disapproval, Timon proceeded to perform the next task, which was to steal the Mona Lisa's smile and David's fig leaf.

Timon brings gifts to Bahuka.

Upon seeing Timon return the relics to Bahuka, Pumbaa attempted to impersonate a talking bamboo stick, which he used to advise Timon to visit a licensed mental health practitioner. Instead of listening to Pumbaa's relic, Timon heeded Bahuka's request to proclaim his name across the heavens, taking it upon himself to fly an airplane across the sky, painting clouds that spelled praises to Bahuka.

After filling Bahuka's car with gas, Timon was instructed to deliver a poem to Bahuka. Timon was quick to do so, though he was shocked to find that Pumbaa was reciting a poem to the statue as well. Though at first inclined to think that Pumbaa had finally acknowledged Bahuka's sentience, Timon was handed the truth by Bahuka himself, who insisted that the meerkat continue with his tasks. Wasting no further instruction, Bahuka told Timon to steal him a national monument, and Timon promptly returned with Mount Rushmore in tow.

Bahuka next asked Timon to give him a side of ranch, and the meerkat easily fulfilled this task. The next task, however, proved to be much more difficult, as Bahuka instructed Timon to carry a pile of junk (composed of the many things Timon had fetched for Bahuka throughout the ordeal) to the top of the volcano and heave it into the fire. Through hard labor, Timon fulfilled his mission, but Bahuka gave him no time to celebrate, reminding him that he had yet to throw in the "pillow."

Realizing that Bahuka meant Pumbaa, Timon turned on the old statue and heaved Bahuka into the fire instead. In answer to Timon's betrayal, Bahuka set the volcano into an eruption, and Timon and Pumbaa barely escaped the island in time. From their perch on a pile of floating debris away from the exploding island, Timon blamed Bahuka for the mess, but Pumbaa still refused to believe in the statue. No sooner had the warthog spoken when Bahuka fell from the heavens, demanding Timon perform the tasks again. Mindlessly obedient once more, Timon proceeded to follow the statue's every request.[1]

Physical appearance[]

Bahuka is several inches taller than Timon. He is durable and robust, as he was able to survive rough handling and even a fall into hot magma. His body is made of grainy gray rock, while his eyes are glowing and red. Bahuka can change size, as he sometimes shrinks to be shorter than Timon.[1]

Personality and traits[]

There is no escape from my wrath. Show obeisance and bow before me, and I mean now!
―Bahuka to Timon[src]
OW Timon & Bahuka4

Bahuka frequently intimidates and orders around Timon.

Bahuka is considerably demanding, as he required Timon to do his every bidding. Any time Timon questioned his obedience to Bahuka, the statue threatened his life and the stability of the island upon which they stood. Bahuka constantly clamors for attention and reverence. Additionally, he is easily miffed and impatient to get what he wants. Simple comments often send him into angry fits, and he reacts with explosive rage to those who oppose his commands.

Bahuka has a deadly and vengeful nature. The statue does not always need a good reason to execute revenge, as he was inclined to wipe out an entire island simply because Pumbaa rejected his existence. He puts very little value in life, as he nearly killed Timon in vengeance.[1]

Trivia[]

  • In Hindu mythology, there is a prominent character named Bahuka, whose original name was Nala. Coincidentally, Nala is a character in The Lion King.[3][4]
