If I do not become dirty when I play, then I don't have to take any more showers?
Simba to Sarabi[src]

A Heroic Dirty Cub is a German comic inspired by The Lion King. It was published by Ehapa Verlag on December 2, 1997.

Synopsis[]

While taking a shower under the supervision of his mother, Sarabi, Simba complained that the shower was putting him in a bad mood. Sarabi reminded him that he often got dirty during playtime, and he realized that he would not need to take so many showers if he remained clean.

The next day, Simba vowed to remain spotlessly clean all day. Before long, his friend, Nala, approached and invited him to play in a mudhole with the other lion cubs, but he turned down her offer. From afar, he watched the cubs play and reminded himself that they would all need to take showers later. Though he boasted to himself that he was the cleanest lion of all time, he confessed that it was a boring pursuit and that he was jealous of the other cubs.

Later, Nala asked Simba why he would not play, and he explained that he was trying to stay clean. In an attempt to respect Simba's wishes, Nala suggested that they take a walk. Though Simba initially acquiesced, he decided to return home partway through the walk so as to avoid getting dirty.

Just then, Simba and Nala heard a cry for help and followed the voice to where a giraffe calf was stuck in a sinkhole. The cubs examined the sinkhole, and Simba determined that it was too deep and narrow to be climbed out of. Suddenly getting an idea, he bade Nala help him fill the sinkhole with dirt so that the calf could climb to safety. Using pieces of tree bark as shovels, the cubs worked together to fill the sinkhole with dirt until the calf was able to escape.

Once the calf was free, Simba and Nala led it to its mother, who thanked them profusely and remarked that they both must be looking forward to refreshing showers. Realizing how dirty he was, Simba raced home, and Sarabi demanded to know why he was so dirty when he had vowed to stay clean all day. To her surprise and delight, Simba climbed willingly into the shower and asserted that, though that day had not gone as planned, the next would be a different story.
